When you've been trapped in the suburbs for as long as I have you learn to adapt to the styles and fashions of the town or be forever ostracized from the crowd of lemmings, all wearing the exact-same-thing. Being a 'fashionista' in the suburbs is a difficult task, but thankfully between magazines, the internet, and having NYC close in my grasp (an easy half-hour drive on a good day), I am able to keep some sense of the high-fashion world in my life. My mother is my partner-in-crime when it comes to fashion. She was the one who taught me everything I know about style from head to toe. Though her style is a bit more... 'suburban' then mine, we still share the same tastes, shoe size, and the love of black ballet flats. I hope that by writing this blog I may be able to help not only myself, but other suburban girls break through the barrier of hoodies and jeans and put their own spin on their outfits, while finding cute, fashionable items in the most unlikely of places. Remember, it’s okay to be a fashionista in the suburbs. I hope you enjoy reading my blog as much as I will enjoy writing it. Peace, Love, and Marc Jacobs, The Suburban Fashionista <3
